If Jesus is your best friend, you love warm weather, an unhealthy amount of coffee, country indie folk music, granny hobbies or a good ole adventure to name a few - I'd think we'd make great friends! If not, no need to fret you're valued and welcomed here, too!
hey there, I'm Sarah
We’ve heard it (or maybe said it ourselves) many different ways on many different occasions…get your milestones documented. Let me tell you what, I didn’t understand on a deeper level how important it is until I got married and Mason and I started a family of our own shortly after.
I’ve heard it about a million and one times… “it goes by fast”, “you’ll blink and they’ll be grown”, you name it. Once our Fulton John was born in the spring of 2020 I knew what others were talking about and although we’ve only seen just a glimpse of what it feels like as our little boy is becoming a little man after we welcomed his little brother two months ago in July. I now realize that to even preserve a simple sliver of a season in our life is immeasurable. In this ever-moving time for us as Mason is in the midst of medical school, having two under 16 months, running a business in a place different from our home, our friends, our family, and learning the balance of it all makes me wish these days could slow down as our boys meet new milestones every day.
Although growing up and myself being the youngest of ten children my parents didn’t document too much in images by the time I came around but for the moments that are, that I am grateful for. These milestones our children and (God-willing) grandchildren and so on will look back on. That’s what it’s all about for generations to feel a connection to a certain moment, time, or person/group of people in still images for years and years to come. These images evoke memory and as a photographer myself I try to capture life how it is in that moment, no stiff posing but the natural way your little ones interact with one another, the way you and your significant other cozy up, those little things that make it you. I want to capture life HOW IT IS so when you look back at these images it brings you back into the moment, that season because as an individual that has gone through all the same seasons and continues to go through all the same seasons my clients do, I know how important it is.
A lot has happened in these first couple of years of marriage for Mason and myself and I am so beyond grateful we’ve chosen to get our seasons, our milestones document when we could make one hundred excuses not to. That our sweet boys (and any future little ones God gives us to bring into this world) will be so grateful we did. To see how we’ve grown and changed physically, emotionally, spiritually. That we can all look back and be grateful for all the Lord has given us and taught us in that time.
So I hope that you too invest in your milestones even if it’s not with me, Sarah at Root & Bloom but with a photographer whom you know and trust and remind yourself that it’s not too late to start. Get your milestones documented not only for you but for those whom you love and who love you too, you will not regret it.
