If Jesus is your best friend, you love warm weather, an unhealthy amount of coffee, country indie folk music, granny hobbies or a good ole adventure to name a few - I'd think we'd make great friends! If not, no need to fret you're valued and welcomed here, too!
hey there, I'm Sarah
One question I get ask quite frequently from first time mother’s is what should or what did I pack in my hospital bag with my littles?
From experiencing being a first time mother + having our oldest right in the early beginnings of Covid with many hospital restrictions to not having any at all with our second child with little to no restrictions I decided to create a free guide for my mama’s who would like a little helping tool to curate their own hospital bag when their little bundle is ready to make his/her appearance and meet just how cool their parents are! 😉
I want to remind you that this list is not the end all be all of lists! You will create your own preferences of what you like and don’t like with each little blessing you welcome into your family! Some of these items we brought our own over using what the hospital provided for various reasons, so if you are ever curious what your specific hospital/birthing center has on hand or allows you to bring I encourage you to ask your care provider’s office or call the labor phone number for your specific hospital/birthing center! Congratulations, beautiful mama! Your life is about to change for the better and know that my family is rooting + praying for yours every step of the way!
Father’s, I am sure there are not many of you scrolling the world wide web for a labor + delivery hospital bag checklist but in the off chance you are I want to say a few things. Your duty in the process (pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum + 50 years down the road) is crucial for the family life. You are our protectors + providers for the sake of your God-given family. Do not take this tasks lightly + you are valued here.
Mother’s, I want to start by saying you are beautiful! LOOK AT YOU – you are a walking tabernacle of life with your precious child in your womb – what a GIFT! The duty of a mother is something so profoundly sacred in our society that our modern world likes to hide + dismantle piece by piece but we know so deeply how intentional the Lord has crafted us + our bodies (and the little babe(s) growing in our womb). He has entrusted us with the nurturing love of a Mother, a glue of sorts you could say for the family. Take this season to get to know Our Lord + Our Mother, Mary more deeply. I cannot not count how many times Our Lady has swiftly came to my aide leading me back to her Son since becoming a Mother – she will for you too.

As a photographer, yes to all the things in the extra category! I also like my laptop to write up my birth story right away while things/times are all fresh in my mind!
It’s funny how my first time bag has drastically changed to my last pregnancies hah!
Yes,
having your laptop is so handy to have on hand – I love backup my images on my drive as soon as possible in the case of something happening to our cards and I didn’t even think of writing a birth story draft when it’s so fresh too!
love this so much! i loved the quote “The duty of a mother is something so profoundly sacred in our society that our modern world likes to hide + dismantle piece by piece but we know so deeply how intentional the Lord has crafted us + our bodies”. so so true!
I love how you mention bringing the nursing pillow and pumps!! It was soo nice to have the lactation consultant’s help, and really made me feel much more confident about breastfeeding! 🙂
Also the equipment! As a fellow photographer, I packed all that up as well! Haha
So beautiful! Sending this to my first time mama friends who are pregnant rn!🥰
I was so excited when you posted this! Love your quote “you are a walking tabernacle of life with your precious child in your womb”! Just makes me realize how much of a privilege it is to be pregnant and a mother
