If Jesus is your best friend, you love warm weather, an unhealthy amount of coffee, country indie folk music, granny hobbies or a good ole adventure to name a few - I'd think we'd make great friends! If not, no need to fret you're valued and welcomed here, too!
hey there, I'm Sarah
Today, I bring to you The Expectant Mother Birth Plan!
What a labor of love it was to curate this template for you, mothers! I am a firm believer that knowledge is power when it comes to your birth space, regardless of where you choose to do so! I desire for mothers to have knowledge in their corner to advocate for themselves, especially in a hospital setting, to support you with how your body shifts and changes throughout labor and how intentionally God crafted our bodies to adapt and we’re made to do this! To gently remind you that you also have the option of choice, to opt in and out of things through your own research, genuine conversations with your provider, and discernment of prayer for you and your baby to enter into your labor and birth with a disposition of peace and confidence.
A birth plan, in my mind, does not equal rigidness, lack of ability to adapt, etc., rather an effective and efficient way to express your desires for your labor, birth, and postpartum care so that if or when you may have to adapt, you know fully well what options are in front of you. You can have and desire exceptional care during one of the most sacred times in your life. Your desires are not a silly thing; they are beautiful, so give them to Jesus, and He will provide the grace needed.
I encourage you, if there is any aspect of this outline that you are unfamiliar with, please research and also take it to your trusted provider and care team and ask the hard questions! Your provider’s job is to charitably educate, share the pros and cons, and help you understand more so that you can choose what is best at the end of the day for the baby and yourself. This is not meant to be a complete one-size-fits-all, so I made sure to include an open space to add any additional desires you’d like to note for your care team!
A sweet reminder that no matter how your birth goes, no matter if it is what you dreamed it would be or maybe far from it, you carried that little one and brought them into the world, AND THAT is something to celebrate!
